About

VFW Hall Post 7721,
800 Neffs Way,
Naples FL 34119

We are a group of women who gather monthly to paint and socialize. Our interest is in Decorative Painting, and we welcome both new and experienced painters to further their skills and enjoy one another’s company.

We meet at the newly renovated VFW Hall on the FIRST FRIDAY each month from 9:30 to 2pm. During the summer months we do not meet in person but paint together through Zoom. This allows all our members to continue to meet and paint whether on vacation or at other residences.

We start with an informal Coffee (with donated treats) we then gather for announcements and then we start our painting time together. There will be a project (usually with a pattern to trace) on a surface of your choice. Our instructor is usually a member or a local teacher. You use your own brushes and paints. Or a paint palette can be provided for a few dollars by the instructor. Lunch is provided by the VFW kitchen for a nominal cost. We then gather again to finish up our project.

While completing a new project, we can relax, enjoy learning new skills, support one another and have fun!

We are involved in community service – in the past, we painted Memory Boxes for local hospitals maternity units to give to grieving families. We currently participate in painting for Empty Bowls of Naples at our end of year project celebratory lunch. Over the last 15 years, we have taught a “Learn to paint” program through the local libraries.

To start painting doesn’t require a big investment. Typical supplies include water container, a few basic brushes, tracing and transfer paper, ruler, pencil, eraser, paper towels and a Styrofoam or plastic plate to use as a paint palette. Paints for the monthly program can be bought from the instructor for a nominal fee (usually ). Other instructors may provide an instruction packet with step-by-step instructions, pattern, photos and would also include paints for use that day.
